Day 5 - We're Halfway There!

This morning, I stayed back at the house until lunchtime to film the big interview with Rosa (the director of AMAD). It went very well, and I am excited to see how the final product will look. After we met up with the team for lunch, we spent time working on the script for the narration part of the video and filmed some interviews with the workers at different specific areas of AMAD. Some of these were physical therapy, someone who worked to get better wheelchairs for the kids, physical education, psychology (for the families, not the children), social work, vision, etc. We filmed each of these ladies performing tasks that they would usually do throughout their day as "B Roll" footage to go over top of the interviews. In each of these interviews, I learned the value of a good bounce card. The one we used looks like something you would see reflecting light from a car's windshield. It is a large, flexible circle covered with what looks to be a shiny metal material. There is a gold side and a silver side depending on what kind of light you're wanting. It takes the natural light from the sun and reflects it on your subject, and made such a difference in the quality of our shots that I think I might just invest in one of these when I get back to the states.

After filming the last few intviews, it was time to head back to our home bases to get cleaned up for dinner. It is really nice to have a bit of time to relax before jumping right into another meal here. In fact, tonight we didn't even start dinner until about 9:45pm.

I especially enjoyed dinner tonight. When the girls entered the "guys domain", they had been preparing for about 30 minutes beforehand to simultaneously release a bunch of balloon animal balloons to surprise us. Well, they thought we would be there much sooner than we were, and after all that waiting out and anticipation, we didn't even all arrive at the same time and their plan kind of... well, it fell through a little bit. But we still appreciated their attempt and proceeded to have a very good time eating together. We filled the quote book up more tonight than we have the entire trip!

Really, there isn't too much more to say about today - there is a lot more work ahead of both the construction and the film crews, so we've just got to keep persevering even when we are hot or tired.
